Punjab’s Sehat Sahulat Programme (SSP) covers free inpatient treatment worth up to Rs. 10 lakh per family per year at more than 900 empanelled hospitals across all 36 districts of the province — both government and private facilities. According to phimc.punjab.gov.pk, the programme has enrolled over 34 million beneficiary families as of 2026. To use the card at any empanelled hospital, take your original CNIC and complete a biometric scan at the registration counter — no cash, no advance payment, no form. To confirm your eligibility before going, send your 13-digit CNIC number (no dashes) as an SMS to 8500 from any network — Jazz, Zong, Telenor, or Ufone — free of charge.

🏥 How to Find Your District’s Empanelled Hospital

The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC) maintains the official list of empanelled hospitals at phimc.punjab.gov.pk. Every district in Punjab has at least one empanelled facility — major cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan have several dozen each. The fastest way to find a hospital near you is the SMS method, the official website, or our Sehat Card Hospital Finder tool.

Method 1 — SMS 8500 (Fastest, Works on Any Phone)

  1. 1Open the SMS app on your mobile.
  2. 2Type your 13-digit CNIC number — no dashes, no spaces. Example: 3520112345678.
  3. 3Send this SMS to 8500.
  4. 4Within minutes you receive a reply confirming your eligibility status and the number of empanelled hospitals near you.

Works free on Jazz, Zong, Telenor, and Ufone. Use the SIM registered to your own CNIC — a different SIM may return an incorrect result.

Method 2 — Official PHIMC Website

  1. 1Open phimc.punjab.gov.pk in your browser — confirm the URL ends in .gov.pk.
  2. 2Navigate to “Empanelled Hospitals” in the menu.
  3. 3Select your district from the dropdown.
  4. 4The page returns a full list of approved hospitals in that district with services offered.

Tip: The PHIMC website can slow down during peak hours. If it is unresponsive, use the SMS 8500 method or our Hospital Finder tool as an alternative.

🪪 How to Use Your Sehat Card at a Hospital

According to the official PHIMC guidelines at phimc.punjab.gov.pk, the process for receiving treatment is the same at every empanelled hospital. All you need is your original CNIC.

  1. 1Before going, confirm the hospital is on the SSP panel via SMS 8500 or our Hospital Finder tool.
  2. 2Go to the hospital’s registration counter. Tell the staff you are using the Sehat Sahulat Programme.
  3. 3Present your original CNIC. A photocopy or a photo on your phone is not accepted.
  4. 4Place your finger on the biometric scanner at the counter — this confirms your identity against NADRA records.
  5. 5Once verification is complete, admission and treatment begin — no upfront fee, no deposit.
  6. 6Medicines used inside the hospital during your admission are also covered — the hospital provides them directly.

✓ Note on Children: Minor children without a CNIC are covered under a parent or guardian’s card. Bring the child’s B-Form and the parent’s original CNIC. The hospital registration desk processes this under the family package.

🔍 What Your SMS 8500 Result Means

✓ Eligible

Your family is covered under SSP. Go to any empanelled hospital in your district with your original CNIC. Find your nearest hospital now using our Hospital Finder tool or the Lahore list if you are in Lahore.

✗ Not Eligible

Your CNIC is not currently in the SSP records. This usually means your NSER data is outdated or incomplete — not that you are permanently excluded. Visit your nearest BISP tehsil office with your original CNIC and request an HH6 dynamic survey. Recheck eligibility via 8500 after 2 to 4 weeks.

⟳ Under Process

Your CNIC is being verified against NADRA and NSER records. No action needed right now. Send the SMS again after 24 to 48 hours.

🛠 What to Do When Things Go Wrong

Hospital Refused to Accept Sehat Card

First confirm the hospital is on the active panel at phimc.punjab.gov.pk or via our Hospital Finder. If the hospital is on the panel and still refuses, call the SHA Punjab helpline 0800-09009 immediately from the hospital — give the hospital name, district, and reason for refusal. An SHA representative contacts the hospital directly.

Biometric Machine Not Working

Ask the hospital administration for a manual override form — this is PHIMC’s approved emergency procedure. Call 0800-09009 so an SHA representative can contact the hospital to resolve the technical issue on the spot. A biometric failure is not a reason to deny treatment.

Hospital Charged a Fee Despite SSP Coverage

Keep your payment receipt. Call 0800-09009 and report the hospital name, date, and amount charged. You can also file a written complaint at phimc.punjab.gov.pk. No fee should be charged for any inpatient treatment covered under SSP at an empanelled hospital.

SMS to 8500 Got No Reply

Check that your CNIC number is exactly 13 digits with no dashes or spaces. Try again after 30 minutes. If there is still no reply, use the eligibility checker on phimc.punjab.gov.pk or call 0800-09009.

Not Eligible But Should Be — How to Enrol

SSP eligibility is based on your BISP poverty survey (NSER) score. If your data is outdated, the system may show you as ineligible even though you qualify. Visit your nearest BISP tehsil office with your original CNIC and request an HH6 dynamic survey. This updates your household data. Check eligibility again via 8500 after 2 to 4 weeks. First confirm your BISP 8171 eligibility status — BISP-enrolled families qualify for SSP automatically.

⚠ Beware of Fraud: SSP registration, eligibility checks, and hospital treatment are all free. No agent, WhatsApp group, or third-party website can change your eligibility or get you a Sehat Card faster. Only send your CNIC to 8500 — no other number. Never share your CNIC with an unknown person in exchange for a card or registration service.

Send your 13-digit CNIC to 8500 right now to confirm your eligibility. If eligible, take your original CNIC to any empanelled hospital in your district — biometric verification at the registration desk is the only step before free treatment begins. If your result shows “not eligible,” visit your nearest BISP tehsil office with your original CNIC and request an HH6 dynamic survey, or call the SHA Punjab helpline 0800-09009 free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the Sehat Card hospital list for my district in Punjab?
Send your CNIC to 8500 — the reply will confirm eligibility and indicate empanelled hospitals near you. For a full district-wise list, visit the official PHIMC portal at phimc.punjab.gov.pk and select your district, or use our Sehat Card Hospital Finder tool. Always verify before travelling as the panel is updated regularly.
Does the Sehat Card work at private hospitals in Punjab?
Yes — PHIMC has empanelled both government and approved private hospitals across Punjab. Not every private hospital is included, only those with an active SSP panel agreement. Before going to a private hospital, confirm it appears on the official PHIMC list or check via SMS 8500.
What documents do I need to take to the hospital?
Only your original CNIC is required. No photocopies, no forms, no advance payment. For a child without a CNIC, bring a parent’s original CNIC and the child’s B-Form. Present these at the hospital registration counter and place your finger on the biometric scanner.
How much free treatment does the Punjab Sehat Card cover per year?
According to phimc.punjab.gov.pk, eligible families receive up to Rs. 10 lakh per family per year in free inpatient treatment at empanelled hospitals. This cover resets annually. The amount applies to the entire family collectively — not per individual member.
Can I use the Sehat Card at a hospital outside my home district?
Yes — in emergency situations, you can receive treatment at any empanelled hospital in Punjab regardless of your home district. For non-emergency planned admissions, your local empanelled hospitals are the first option. If advanced treatment is unavailable in your district, the empanelled hospital will issue an official referral to a tertiary care centre.
What if the Sehat Card hospital nearest to me has no specialists?
Ask the hospital to issue a formal referral letter to the nearest SSP tertiary care centre — this is covered under the programme. Major government teaching hospitals in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur accept SSP referrals and provide specialist care. The full Lahore specialist hospital list is at our Lahore Hospital List guide.
My SMS 8500 says not eligible — what should I do?
A “not eligible” result usually means your NSER poverty score record is outdated. Visit your nearest BISP tehsil office with your original CNIC and request an HH6 dynamic survey update. Also check your BISP 8171 eligibility — families active in BISP Kafaalat are automatically enrolled in SSP. Recheck 8500 after 2 to 4 weeks of the survey.
What is the SHA Punjab helpline number and when can I call?
The SHA Punjab helpline is 0800-09009, available 24 hours a day, free from any network. Call this number if a hospital refuses treatment, the biometric machine is not working, you were charged a fee, or you want to file a complaint about any SSP-related issue.
